The First Full Week

Well, the first full week of school is over. It was extremely busy of course. All those beginning of the year assessments, teaching procedures and getting to know each other. I've found out quite a few things about my kiddos. I've got half the kids in my class who already know second grade math and half who don't. It will be a challenge to move those who are above grade level on while making sure the others are mastering the skills they need. The good news is, most all of my students are reading on grade level. That makes for some really fun literature circles and interesting books to read.

The state is changing our social studies curriculum again. I'm not sure how I feel about the changes yet. However, that means something new to teach this year! New is good...keeps you from getting too comfortable.

I'm really excited about this school year. Its off to a great start. Check back. I'll let you know how it goes.

Favorite Quotes

The other day at the top of my gmail feed was a quote from brainyquote.com. I had such fun searching through them I decided to put some of them here. If you have any favorite quotes feel free to leave them for me! I hope you enjoy them as much as I have. I have a bunch more I'd like to put in a sidebar, which I'll do as soon as I figure how to get Blogger to let me do it.
